Marron bacoba is indigenous to dry low-elevation coastal
forests on the island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
It is severely threatened due to limited range and
habitat destruction. It is currently being considered by the US
Fish & Wildlife Service for potential addition to the CITES list
of endangered species.
The ones we are growing came from seed collected from a
plant cultivated by the legendary Dr. Gary Ray at his native plant nursery in
St. John.
